Terms of Service

These terms apply when you download, buy or use Trove. They are meant to be readable. If something here is unclear, ask and we will explain it.
One family. Five computers. Start your account, download Trove, and activate your first Mac or Windows computer to begin your shared 72-hour trial.
The family licence
The subscription grants your family a non-exclusive licence to use Trove and receive updates on up to five activated computers total, in any combination of Mac and Windows. Both platforms are included in one licence. A virtual machine or a separate operating-system installation uses its own registration. One account holder manages the family licence and shares its activation key only with family members.
You may not resell, sublicense or distribute your licence outside your family, or attempt to defeat the licence or computer-activation limits.
Price, renewal and cancellation
The first year costs $29.99 USD. Subsequent years cost $19.99 USD per year and renew automatically unless cancelled. Your subscription covers both app use and updates. Any applicable taxes are shown at checkout.
Cancellation stops the next renewal payment. Access continues through the end of the paid period. After that, an active subscription is required to keep using Trove. The app stops accepting new file operations at expiration; operations already running can finish. Your files remain accessible through your operating system. Returning subscribers who have already paid for their first year renew at the subsequent-year price.
The 72-hour trial
Each licence has one shared 72-hour trial, starting when its first computer is activated. All computers on that licence share the same expiration. Adding, replacing or reinstalling on a computer does not restart the trial.
The standard trial requires no payment card and will not automatically charge you. You must choose to subscribe to continue after it expires. If your offer requires a card, you authorize the first $29.99 payment at the end of the shared trial, followed by $19.99 yearly renewal. Cancel in your account before the trial ends to avoid a charge. Adding a card does not start or restart the trial. Your trial keeps the terms you accepted, even if trial offers change later.
Managing your computers
You will be able to deactivate a computer from your account, including a lost or broken computer. Deactivation immediately frees one of the five activation slots. A removed computer that is offline cannot receive the change immediately; it stops working when it reconnects or reaches the expiration already recorded on its licence.
Offline use and expiration
Online activation is required initially. After activation, Trove will work offline until the trial or subscription expiration recorded on its licence. There is no requirement to reconnect every seven days or at another fixed interval before that date.
At expiration, reconnect so Trove can verify whether the subscription has renewed. If it has, access continues with the new expiration. Otherwise, the app stops working until the subscription is renewed and verified. Expiration does not delete or transfer ownership of your files.
Complimentary tester licences
Testers explicitly granted a complimentary lifetime licence will not need payment or renewal. These licences have the same five-computer activation limit and replacement controls. A remotely deactivated lifetime installation that stays offline can receive the revocation only when it reconnects.
Your files are yours
Trove is a tool you point at your own data. You keep every right you had in your files. We claim nothing over them, and as described in the Privacy Policy we do not receive them.
Connecting other services
Trove can connect to third-party services such as file servers, object stores and cloud drives. You are responsible for having the right to access whatever you connect, and for complying with that service's own terms. Those services are not operated by us, and we are not responsible for them, their availability, or what they do with your data.
Acceptable use
Do not use Trove to break the law, to access systems or data you have no right to, or to infringe someone else's rights.
Payment and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe. Any applicable taxes and the total amount payable are shown at checkout before payment.
If Trove does not work for you, email support@grabtrove.com within 3 days of purchase and we will refund you. We would rather fix the problem, so tell us what went wrong either way.
Where the law gives you a longer cancellation right — for example the statutory withdrawal period for consumers in the UK and EU — that right applies regardless of the window above.
Availability and changes
Trove is under active development. Features may be added, changed or removed between releases. We will not knowingly remove something you rely on without saying so in the release notes.
No warranty
Trove is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. A file manager moves and deletes files: keep backups. You are responsible for the operations you ask the app to perform.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to Trove is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost data, lost profits or business interruption.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Ending the licence
You may stop using Trove at any time. We may end a licence if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached — for example, redistributing licence keys — and will normally warn you first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in New Jersey have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
This does not remove any consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of the country where you live.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the date at the top will change. Continuing to use Trove after that means the updated terms apply.
